Your discussion of the "Art is..." piece is really clear and succinct and I think you do a good job pointing out how it is used as a foil to other - heavier - works in the show.

I think the last sentence of your first paragraph, which I'm taking to be the thesis, could be clarified. You seem to be setting up "communal desires" against "capitalizing powers", but what this means exactly isn't hugely clear to me.

Likewise, the very last paragraph is a bit oblique. Perhaps you could add a sentence at the beginning restating that the exhibition is it MoMA PS1, and briefly describe the area PS1 is in, for those not in the know. Otherwise I think your rather on point statement as to whether showing films about revolution in a gentrified and stable setting is lost. I think it is interesting that you bring up the legitimacy of this show because of the disjunction between the content of the show and the location it is in. I’m not so sure one cannot authentically engage in a revolutionary discourse from a urban and gentrified area. My interpretation was that Zero Tolerance wanted to force awareness into the faces of an audience that live in urban areas, go to museums, and might inevitably be or feel separate from the violent conflicts occurring world wide.
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09944523302904277981noreply@blogger.com
